During a special event, the Pan-American Quito Architectural Biennial (BAQ), presented the details of its upcoming edition that will take place from the 9th to the 13th of November 2020, at the “Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana”. At the end of the evening, the Ministry of Culture and Heritage awarded the BAQ with a certificate declaring it “Cultural Event of National Interest”, in recognition of its continuous success and prestigious history at national and international level.
In the presence of local and national authorities the Biennial gave an account of its 40 plus year history and launched the book of the 2018 BAQ Winners. Maria Samaniego, president of the BAQ said: “2020 is an important year, the beginning of a decade where the Biennial invites us to reflect on the role of architecture as an instrument for qualitative transformation in the way people inhabit cities”.
The BAQ is considered one of the most important architecture events in the American continent.
In 2020, under the concept of TRANSFORMATION , Quito will host the most representative architectural production of the Americas and some the best architects in the world.
